Take your fan relationships to the next level with smart, trigger-based messaging that responds automatically to fan actions.
We’re excited to introduce Automated Messages, a powerful new feature that helps you build deeper connections with your fans through smart, personalized messaging sequences. Whether you want to welcome new followers, celebrate membership purchases, or re-engage fans who interact with your content, Automated Messages lets you create sophisticated. customizable communication flows that work on autopilot.
Think of this feature as an upgraded Welcome Messages, which you’re already familiar with. Now, you have significantly more control with conditionals, delays, and rich text formatting options to create truly engaging experiences for your fans.
Getting Started With Automated Messages
Setting up your first automation is simple:
- Navigate to Creator Tools → Automated Messages in your left-hand sidebar
- Click + New Automation to begin building your sequence
- Select a Fan Action Trigger that will start your automation (more on these below)
- Hit Save to create the automation
- Add additional steps by choosing Conditions or Auto Messages to build out your sequence
- Configure each step to your preferences and save when you’re done
What Can Trigger Your Automations?
Automated Messages respond to real fan behaviors, letting you engage at exactly the right moment. Here are the fan actions you can use as triggers:
- On Follow - Welcome new fans as soon as they follow you
- On Unfollow - Reach out when a fan unfollows (if appropriate)
- On Membership Purchase - Celebrate when fans buy memberships (any tier or specific ones)
- On Membership Expire - Re-engage fans when their membership expires
- Free Trial - Connect with fans starting a free trial
- On Livestream End - Follow up after your livestreams conclude
- On Post Comment - Respond when fans comment on your posts
- On Fanwall Comment - Engage with fans who comment on your wall
- Message with Keywords - Trigger messages based on specific keywords fans send you
- Like Post - Reach out when fans like your content
- On Marketplace Purchase - Thank fans for marketplace purchases
- On Content Purchase - Engage fans who purchase from your Vault
Use Conditions to Target the Right Fans
Conditions let you create sophisticated targeting rules so your messages reach the right fans at the right time. Think of conditions as filters that determine whether a specific fan should continue through your automation sequence.
Here’s how conditions work:
- Add conditions to filter which fans receive your Auto Messages
- Combine multiple rules using And/Or logic to create precise targeting
- Use Group Conditions to mix And and Or logic for even more complex scenarios
For example: You could create an automation that triggers on membership purchase AND requires that the fan has either tipped you before OR purchased content in the past 30 days. This ensures you’re sending personalized messages to your most engaged fans.

Building Effective Message Sequences
The real power of Automated Messages comes from combining these elements into multi-step sequences:
- Triggers determine what fan action starts the automation
- Conditions decide who qualifies to receive your messages
- Auto Messages are the custom messages those qualified fans receive
- Delays let you space out your communication naturally
- Rich text formatting makes your messages more engaging and personal
You can create multiple steps within a single automation, allowing you to build sophisticated messaging flows that adapt to fan behavior and timing.
Important Things to Know
About Your Existing Welcome Messages: Your old Welcome Messages are still visible but can no longer be edited. To make changes or create new welcome sequences, simply use the new Automated Messages feature with the "On Follow" trigger.
Creating Multiple Automations: You can set up multiple automations for the same trigger with different conditions, letting you target different fan segments with tailored messaging.
Automation Limits: Keep in mind there's a maximum of 20 steps per automation, 40 automations per creator account, and 50 conditions per condition step (including nested conditions). Condition steps have a maximum depth of 3 tiers.
Tracking Your Results: All messages sent through automations appear individually in Analytics → Messages, so you can track how your automated sequences are performing.
Note: If two automations use identical triggers and conditions, fans will receive both messages. Automations don't check against each other, so be mindful when setting up multiple sequences.
